Final written evaluation

Project evaluation:
This project was a very interesting journey that has helped me to develop my photography skills and gain experience in producing a photobook as a final outcome. Towards the start of the project I feel as though my images lacked direction as I was still unsure about what I wanted to do with my project.
As the shoots progressed I noticed an improvement in my images with the best shoot being the final shoot. For the project I should have chosen somewhere more accessible so I could do many more shoots and create more working images. However, the small amount of shoots still provided me with plenty of images to choose from when creating the final design of the book.
Throughout the shoots there are multiple images that stand out against the others as being quite sophisticated. As I was making more images in the next shoots I should have kept these chosen images in mind and attempted to create work with the same feel to it. The earlier shoots should have also had more direction to them and should have helped to present the project ideas.
If I had the chance to redo this project I would have completed more shoots on location and experimented more with different post production techniques. This would allow me to have a more diverse outcome and not just one final product to display.
Overall I am very pleased with the outcome of the final print of the photobook. It has a very professional appearance but also manages to capture the character and colours of Digbeth. The chaotic design of the covers and pairing of the images matches the character given off by the streets of Birmingham.
